A pair is in custody after this weekend when they were discovered in possession of a suitcase containing body parts in Wattville.

According to SAPS Ekurhuleni District Communications Officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela, Crime Prevention Wardens on patrol observed the duo pushing a seemingly heavy suitcase near Roshini and Kohinor streets.

When stopped, the man (in his 20s)  claimed a cow’s head was inside the purple suitcase. However, the 33-year-old woman fled the scene when wardens initiated a search. The wardens then made a gruesome discovery of a mutilated man’s body in the suitcase.

The police found a human head and additional body parts after arriving at the scene. Waiting for a SAPS photographer, community members noticed more body parts about 30 metres away.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased had been residing with his girlfriend, the 33-year-old female suspect, in Actonville. After spotting her doing laundry in the early hours, the landlord reportedly questioned the girlfriend. Her response, claiming she wanted to visit her sister later, raised suspicions.

A few hours after this interaction, the girlfriend was seen pushing the luggage bag, leading to her apprehension on November 12, facilitated by her sister. The male suspect, residing on the same street, alleges that the woman asked him to assist in carrying the bag.

The Actonville SAPS is actively investigating a murder case.
