A Brakpan woman is offering a R7 000 reward for the return of her two stolen parrots, Candy and Olaf, which were stolen along with her car on April 21 in Boksburg. Christelle Barnard (50) desperately seeks her beloved African grey parrots’ safe return. Despite sharing their photos on social media, Barnard has not received any promising leads.

The birds, both rescues, hold immense sentimental value to Barnard. Olaf has been a companion for three years and Candy for three months. Barnard’s routine includes taking the parrots everywhere, including to work, where they sleep in front of her bed.

The theft occurred around 13:00, as Barnard was en route from Brakpan to Ellisras, where she works, after a minor accident on Madeley Road. While waiting for assistance, a tall, skinny man forcibly stole her car, a white Volkswagen Caddy with registration number 1 STER L, and drove off towards the East Rand Mall.

Barnard urges anyone with information about the stolen parrots or vehicle to contact her at 083 542 5187.
