A powerful overnight storm in Gauteng brought heavy rain and strong winds. According to EWN, the storm caused damage to homes and cars and disrupted some areas’ electricity supply. However, authorities have reported no injuries or fatalities.

Tshwane appears to have borne the brunt of the storm, with reports of damage coming in from Johannesburg and Krugersdorp.

Charles Mabaso, the spokesperson for the City of Tshwane’s emergency management services, stated that in Block HH Soshanguve, a house’s roof was blown away. Fortunately, the family needed no alternative accommodation because they could shelter in the remaining part of the house.
