northern suburbs in boksburg have power again

The northern suburbs in Boksburg have power again. The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) has announced this development. The suburbs endured a week-long blackout due to a fire at the Witkoppie substation.

While some affected suburbs had their power restored last week after the fire damaged the primary substation on Atlas Road, areas like Impala Park, Witkoppie Ridge, and parts of Bardene and Beyers Park had been without electricity.

According to CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, multiple cable faults complicated power restoration efforts, causing delays beyond the initially estimated recovery date of September 25. Consequently, the metro had to implement load rotation at four-hour intervals in areas still without power as they worked to replace the faulty cables.

After extensive efforts, the team has successfully restored power to the remaining suburbs, including Beyers Park, Bardene, and Bartlett, relieving residents who endured the week-long inconvenience.
