No Need to Panic if Double-Billed in City of Joburg

Due to system maintenance, the city could not issue municipal bills for March and April. However, according to Finance MMC Dada Morero, residents should not be alarmed when receiving two monthly bills as reported by Jacarandafm.

The April bill will include customers’ March balance, reflecting any outstanding or paid amounts, which may result in a credit or an outstanding balance depending on the customer’s situation.

In addition, customers who had chosen a fixed payment due date may receive their March statement this month, showing due dates that have already passed.

Morero assured customers that only those who owed the city before February 28 would be charged interest.

He also apologized for the inconvenience caused by the system maintenance but explained that it was necessary to improve their service delivery.
