Loftus Versfeld Stadium, which has a rich history in South African sports, will be the 12th Nedbank Cup final venue in the past 16 years. It hosted matches in the 2009 Fifa Confederations Cup and the 2010 Fifa World Cup, featuring the likes of Spain, Italy, Brazil and Bafana Bafana. Khensani Nobanda, group executive of marketing and corporate affairs at Nedbank, expressed excitement at the prospect of the cup final occurring in Pretoria. “Together with our partners, the PSL, we look forward to delivering a fun-filled matchday with tremendous fanfare and entertainment. We encourage families, football fans, music- and entertainment lovers to buy their tickets early to avoid disappointment. This Nedbank Cup final promises to be one for the books.”

Sekhukhune United claimed their spot in the final after booting out on-form Stellenbosch FC in a battle stretched through extra time and up to penalties. They triumphed 5-4 against a stubborn Stellies from the Cape Winelands. With such a nail-biting qualifier, the final promises to be a memorable event that football fans won’t want to miss.
