With a love for all things automotive inspired by movies he watched when he was a child and having passed the Kyalami Race Track on his way to school each day, it was only time before motor racing took centre stage in Nathi Msimanga’s life – and he is now literally living out his childhood dreams.

The Midrand-born-and-raised Toyota Gazoo Racing driver, currently fourth in the championship, has further sealed his passion for automotives by pursuing studies in Mechanical Engineering at Wits University.

Toyota Gazoo Racing spotted his talent and reached out to him to potentially drive the third GTC car for the team in the 2023 season, a decision that proved to be the best of his career so far. Msimanga’s determination, commitment, and practice propel him towards his goal of racing in the GT3 category.

Alongside his racing pursuits, Msimanga also has a parallel career in mechanical engineering, making him a well-rounded individual with a wealth of knowledge on moving parts. For example, when it comes to tyres, he advises finding the right balance in the tyre compound and regularly inspecting them for bulges, wear and tear, tread, or overheating.

Beyond racing, Msimanga is passionate about sneakers and can often be found at sneaker events or car gatherings, showcasing his style and love for fashionable footwear.

With unwavering dedication, Msimanga continues to chase success, pushing himself and his machinery to the limit, all while living out his childhood dreams.
