Search Continues for Suspects Involved in Brutal Triple Murder in Alexandra
Gauteng police are intensifying efforts to locate four additional suspects linked to the horrifying murder of three in Alexandra.
SABC News reports that the incident unfolded last Friday night when armed assailants ambushed 52-year-old Thulani Zuma and fellow community patrollers at Far East Bank. The attack occurred amidst scheduled load shedding by Eskom, plunging the area into darkness. Zuma lost his life in the attack, and three other patrollers sustained injuries and are currently recuperating in hospital.
Police Spokesperson Dimakatso Nivhuhulwi confirmed that two suspects, aged 27 and 28, were apprehended on Saturday evening concerning the shooting. They appeared in court and will stay in custody until August 21, pending a formal bail application. Law enforcement is still searching for four additional suspects believed to be involved.

There has been a call for swift police action and justice from Zuma’s family. At his memorial service, Thuli Zuma, his daughter, expressed the family’s shock and stressed the importance of holding the perpetrators accountable.
Amidst rising crime in Alexandra, Zuma’s contribution to maintaining safety in the community is being acknowledged. Neighbour MamaG Langfit highlighted how Zuma, a father of seven, bravely fought crime alongside local law enforcement due to concerns about inadequate police efforts. Langfit expressed the pain of losing a family-oriented individual and stressed the need for justice.
One of the injured patrollers, 59-year-old Paulos Mzimela, who remains hospitalized at Edenvale Hospital, voiced his determination to continue protecting the community despite sustaining a bullet wound during the attack. Mzimela underscored the urgency for the government to address crime concerns. He also mentioned his concerns for his family’s safety, who may be at risk due to his involvement in crime prevention efforts.
