Murangi Productions Invests in Robe Lighting
Murangi Productions, founded in 2000, is a technical production and rental company based in Edenvale, Johannesburg. It is led by Hendrick Nemalili and his wife, Rose, who named the company in memory of their late son, Murangi Nemalili. Despite facing the tragedy of their son’s passing, Hendrick and Rose have shown immense dedication, keeping the business thriving and ensuring exceptional service to clients in honour of Murangi as reported by etnow.
The company specialises in providing full-production and crew services for various events, including corporates, awards ceremonies, live shows, music festivals, and church-based events. Recently, Murangi Productions expanded its inventory by acquiring Robe moving lights, including 12 LEDBeam 150s and 12 LEDBeam 350s with 12 PAINTES on order.

Like many businesses, Murangi Productions faced challenges during the pandemic but managed to weather the storm with the support of its 12 full-time staff. Toward the end of 2022, Hendrick and Rose expressed confidence in the industry’s recovery, leading them to invest in new Robe fixtures. The LEDBeam 150s were the first to arrive, followed by the LEDBeam 350s in February of the current year.
Hendrick sought advice from Murangi’s chief lighting designer, Musa Mthetwa, and enlisted Duncan Riley from DWR, Robe’s South African distributor, who recommended the LED beams. The LEDBeam 150s were praised for their versatility and compact size, while the LEDBeam 350s were described as fantastic, powerful fixtures suitable for various show styles.
The new LEDBeams debuted at the 2023 North West Sports Awards held at Sun City Superbowl, where Murangi Productions provided the full production, with Musa serving as the lighting designer.
The article mentions that Murangi Productions already had Robe luminaires in their inventory, including 12 LEDBeam 100s, eight Spikies, eight miniPointes, and a few PixelPATTs. These lighting fixtures have proven invaluable for creating diverse lighting effects and scenic lighting for camera shots.
Hendrick and Rose had the opportunity to visit the Robe factory in the Czech Republic, where they were impressed by the production process and recognised the value and quality of Robe products. They particularly appreciated Robe’s human-centred approach to production, which they believe is crucial in business and life.
Hendrick expressed his satisfaction with DWR, praising their exceptional client and technical support. He emphasised that regardless of the order’s size, DWR made him feel like their only client.
Hendrick’s passion for the events and music industry stems from his background as a musician. He started playing guitar at a local church in Venda Limpopo and pursued a BA degree in Music at the University of Venda. He later studied teaching and sound engineering, which led him to establish Murangi Productions.
While officially registered in 2004, Murangi Productions operated as a smaller production company since 2000, primarily focused on weddings and parties.
