Motshekga Commends SA Educators as Teachers' Month Begins

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga praised the vital role of teachers in South Africa during a media briefing on Sunday, marking the launch of Teachers’ Month under the theme “The teachers we need for the education we want.”

Motshekga emphasised the need to recognise educators’ crucial contributions to society and commended them for their dedication to improving the country’s education system despite challenging circumstances as reported by Eyewitness News.

Acknowledging the shortage of educational resources, Motshekga emphasised that teachers remain the most critical and available resource in the education system.

Furthermore, the Minister announced the upcoming National Teaching Awards in Pretoria, scheduled for Thursday, to honour teachers who have shown outstanding performance and commitment in various aspects of their work. She also acknowledged the presence of numerous exceptionally talented teachers throughout the country.
