Microsoft has announced an upcoming price increase for its popular Xbox Game Pass subscription service in South Africa and other countries starting July 6th. While the increase is insignificant and doesn’t apply to the PC version of Game Pass, it aims to align the pricing with local market conditions, according to Kari Perez, Xbox’s head of communications as reported by NAG.

For South African gamers, the monthly subscription cost for Xbox Game Pass will rise from R79 to R85, a 7.59% increase. Game Pass Ultimate will also see an increase from R119 to R129. These changes will affect new subscribers from July 6th and existing members from August 13th. However, the price of a Game Pass for PC will remain unchanged at R79 per month.

Despite the slight price increase, Game Pass remains more affordable than its initial launch price of R159 in the local market. It remains unclear if the recently introduced Friends & Family plan for Game Pass Ultimate, priced at R199 per month, will be affected by this increase.
