Metro police recover stolen vehicle and kidnapping victims
The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) announced the recovery of a stolen vehicle in Pretoria West, which was associated with a recent hijacking and kidnapping incident. Metro police officers on patrol in Hammanskraal were alerted to a white Kia that had been reported stolen on October 1.
With the assistance of a tracking company, the TMPD successfully located the vehicle in Pretoria West, specifically in the Zama Zama area.
Upon recovering the vehicle, officers discovered four individuals who had been kidnapped during the hijacking. Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba, spokesperson for TMPD, stated that witnesses informed the officers about victims left near the location of the abandoned vehicle. Two men and two women explained that they were abducted in Hammanskraal by a group of eight suspects who had also robbed their workplace and kidnapped their employer, who later managed to escape.
A case involving charges of theft, robbery, and kidnapping has been lodged with the South African Police Service (SAPS).
Members of the public with any pertinent information regarding the incident or the eight suspects are encouraged to contact the SAPS or the TMPD at 012 358 7095/7096.
