The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 AM as the truck travelled towards Florida, passing Ruhammah Drive. It happened just before reaching the traffic lights commonly used as a pedestrian crossing for Westgate Shopping Centre and the adjacent businesses.
Eyewitnesses recounted that a taxi pulled onto the busy road, forcing the large truck to make an evasive manoeuvre. This manoeuvre led to the truck crashing through the palisade fence of a business situated alongside the road.
Remarkably, the truck narrowly avoided colliding with informal traders operating nearby, and they emerged unscathed from the incident. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported, although a few injured pedestrians required medical attention.
The extent of their injuries remains uncertain, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available regarding their condition.
