Marnitz Clinches Championship Victory

At the tender age of seven, Marnitz Otten from Brakpan is already working diligently to fulfil his dream of becoming a motorbike racing superstar. This young prodigy has had a remarkable season in the SA Short Circuit Series, claiming victory in all six rounds of the PW 50 class this year, including his most recent triumph in Benoni last month. During that race, he won all three heats and secured the top spot in the primary race.

Marnitz’s stellar form has been so unassailable that he has already clinched the championship lead with no possibility of being overtaken. His mother, Izele Otten, proudly states, “He can’t be caught.”

The final two legs of the championship will occur at the end of this month in Polokwane and next month in Vereeniging. Marnitz’s racing prowess has significantly improved since last year, when he finished third in the championship. The young prodigy has not limited himself to the PW 50 category; he has also been diligently competing in the higher SM 50 division.

Although the SM 50 bikes may appear too big for someone of his young age, Marnitz is determined to race exclusively in this division next year, leaving the PW 50 category behind. Despite his size, he has worked tirelessly with his father to hone his skills, dedicating weekends and some weekdays to training.

Marnitz’s racing idol is top rider Brad Binder, and he aspires to follow in his footsteps. His father, Willem, attests to his commitment, saying, “He wakes me up on a weekend, asking when we can go and practice. I must say that for his age, he’s very committed.”

Clearly, this young talent’s passion for the track knows no bounds. He succinctly says, “I enjoy being out on the track with my friends.”
