Man Ordered to Pay Spousal Maintenance Exceeding R100,000
In a recent decision by the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg, a businessman was instructed to provide his estranged wife with over R100,000 in spousal maintenance while their divorce proceedings continue. The ruling followed the wife’s Rule 43 application, where she requested interim support for herself and their three children until the divorce reached its conclusion as reported by MSN.

The couple has been entangled in a contentious divorce since their separation in 2020. The wife’s court documents detailed harrowing incidents involving the husband, including the alleged dispatch of bodyguards armed with semi-automatic weapons to her residence. This resulted in severe trauma for her and the children, with the wife even being hospitalised after taking an overdose of pills.
The husband countered with allegations of his own, accusing the wife of infidelity, distributing explicit images of herself, and engaging in multiple affairs. He also claimed she infected him with various medical conditions, including HIV. Nevertheless, these allegations remained unverified.
Since parting ways with her husband, the wife disclosed her financial struggles, emphasising the need for interim spousal maintenance as she finds it challenging to meet household financial responsibilities.
