Engineering Experts to Assess M1 Double-Decker Bridge After Fire

Engineering experts are getting ready to inspect the M1 bridge to assess its structural integrity after a blaze. As per EWN, the fire broke out in the tunnels beneath the bridge on Tuesday, damaging electricity cables and plunging significant parts of the inner city into darkness. City Power has emphasised the importance of this inspection to ensure the bridge’s safety before their officials can commence repair work.

According to spokesperson Isaac Mangena, the inspection will determine the extent of the necessary repairs, including assessing whether repair or replacement of materials is needed and estimating the duration of the repair process.
