Breaking News: Eskom Announces Intensified Load Shedding to Stage 3 from Monday Afternoon
Eskom, the beleaguered South African power utility, has announced that load shedding will be intensified to stage 3 from Monday afternoon due to increasing breakdowns and maintenance outages.
As Jacaranda FM reports, despite having eased the planned power cuts to stage 1 on Sunday, Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena has revealed that stage 2 load shedding will occur from 05:00 until 16:00 on Monday, followed by stage 3 load shedding until 05:00 on Tuesday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, stage 1 load shedding will be implemented from 05:00 until 16:00, followed by stage 2 load shedding from 16:00 until 05:00.
In the past 24 hours, Eskom returned three generation units to service at Duvha, Kendal, and Kriel power stations. However, generating units at Kendal, Kriel, and Majuba power stations had to be taken offline for repairs.
Eskom says delays in returning units to service at Duvha, Hendrina, Kriel, Majuba, Medupi, and Tutuka power stations continue.
