Electoral Court to Deliver Verdict in ANC vs MK Party Case
The anticipated judgement from the Electoral Court looms as it prepares to rule on the ANC’s legal challenge against the registration of the MK Party as a political entity. Per EWN, Recent proceedings saw spirited arguments from both sides, with the ANC asserting procedural irregularities. The MK Party, backed by former ANC leader Jacob Zuma, faces accusations of improperly amending its application following its initial rejection. However, the MK Party and the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) maintain the legality of their actions.

This ruling will also clarify whether the ANC can circumvent internal dispute resolution processes and seek recourse directly through the courts. The ANC alleges that the MK Party unlawfully modified its application post-rejection. At the same time, the IEC contends that the process was legitimate—a sentiment echoed by the MK Party. Spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela expressed confidence in the IEC’s adherence to protocol and affirmed the MK Party’s readiness to contest the upcoming elections, anticipating a favourable ruling.
