JRA Struggles to Repair Pothole

The Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) acknowledges the presence of a significant developing hole at the intersection of George (Maid Marion) and Kent Avenue in Ferndale. However, the repair process is contingent on pipe diversion work by Joburg Water, according to JRA spokesperson Kelebogile Mafa.

This hole, present for five months, has raised safety concerns among Ferndale Ridge Residents Group members, particularly due to its location at a busy intersection. Chairman Pierre van Wyk highlighted that despite numerous reports and escalations by the ward councillor, the JRA has yet to address the issue. The collapse of the road is attributed to water pipe works impacting stormwater pipes.

Mafa assured that Johannesburg Water is aware of the situation and plans to conduct pipe diversion works to address the problem. The JRA has temporarily barricaded the affected section for safety while monitoring the site until the necessary works are completed. Randburg Sun reached out to Joburg Water for additional information but has not received a response as of the publication date.
