Johannesburg Water updates Kite Street water tower restoration

Residents in the vicinity of Kite Street water tower will face extended wait for normal water supply, due to the inadequate pumping station and budget constraints, according to Johannesburg Water’s response to Ward 85 Councillor Zoné Hughes. The tower was decommissioned as the common pump station at Bickel, and Du Toit Streets could not pump enough water for both consumption and storage as reported by Roodepoort Record.

Johannesburg Water’s long-term plan is to construct a dedicated pump station and pipelines for Kite Street tower.

However, budget limitations have deferred the project to the 10-year capital plan.
