30 Foreign Nationals Rescued in Edenvale in Suspected Human Trafficking Case

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department recently conducted a rescue operation, disrupting suspected human trafficking in Edenvale. 27 individuals were rescued. According to EWN, the incident took place on a Sunday.

Authorities have now initiated a thorough investigation to comprehend the circumstances that allowed 30 Ethiopian men to be trafficked into the country without detection. They aim to uncover the details surrounding bringing these individuals into the country and the intentions behind their presence.

Xolani Fihla, the spokesperson for the JMPD, reported that during the police raid in Edenvale, three men managed to escape from the house. This situation introduces further complexities into the ongoing investigation.

There have been no arrests. The victims have been handed over to SAPS and Home Affairs Immigration. These authorities will facilitate the processing of the rescued individuals and their subsequent deportation to their home countries.
