The HOPE Foundation, handpicked by KZN Cricket and Cricket SA, played a significant role in this milestone event. The organisation proudly displayed placards with powerful messages like “Enough,” “No Excuse For Abuse,” and “Protect Her.” During halftime, the HOPE Foundation organised a silent march across the field to emphasise the importance of addressing GBV.

Vanessa Samuel-Chetty, the director of the HOPE Foundation, expressed her joy and excitement at being part of this unique event. She highlighted the organisation’s attire, which featured black T-shirts with a prominent red “X”, symbolising the urgent need to stop GBV.

The highlight of the day was the silent march onto the cricket field during halftime, which sent a powerful message even without words. The HOPE Foundation received national attention through interviews with Cricket SA and coverage on SuperSport.

The event aimed to raise awareness about GBV, and Samuel-Chetty expressed hope that the conversation would continue at future sporting events. Dinesha Devnarain, a former Protea and organiser of the event, emphasised the importance of addressing GBV, and CEO Heinrich Strydom praised the HOPE Foundation for its role in raising awareness and calling out perpetrators of GBV.

This historic event showcased solidarity in the fight against GBV and highlighted the need for continued awareness and action.
