Johannesburg Water has addressed a dangerous hole in Craighall Park at the corner of Buckingham and Grosvenor avenues.

The hole, reported by a concerned resident, featured an exposed metal pipe, posing a hazard to motorists and pedestrians, who had to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid it.

Johannesburg Water’s spokesperson, Nombuso Shabalala, confirmed that the hole was repaired on October 4.

Ward 90 councillor Martin Williams expressed his concerns about recurring leaks. He noted that various agencies, including Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), Johannesburg Water, and Egoli gas network, have addressed these issues since 2016, but there has been little progress.

Williams emphasized the need for a comprehensive redesign of the entire structure to prevent further leaks and issues in the future.
