According to Colonel Katlego Mogale, the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit received information from the Ford Motor Vehicle Company of South Africa (FMCSA) regarding the potential theft of engines. Acting on this information, they later confirmed that the alleged theft occurred on the premises of FMCSA. A truck from a courier company was used to transport approximately 36 engines, after which it departed the premises without following proper procedure. The truck was later found to have offloaded the racks at Charles Leyds Street in Eersterust, but the engines were missing.

During the investigation, two elderly individuals were found at the drop-off location, and they claimed not to know the cargo.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, two FMCSA security officers, a mechanical repair shop owner, and the truck driver were arrested for possessing the suspected stolen property. The case will proceed to court for further legal proceedings.
