Gauteng MEC Chiloane Expresses Sadness Over Alleged Rape and Murder of Grade 11 Learner

The Gauteng MEC, Matome Chiloane, has expressed his heartfelt sympathies over the rape and killing of a grade 11 learner. According to EWN, the event took place at the Chipa-Tabane Secondary School, which is in Refilwe in Cullinan.

The girl left her home on Sunday evening at 6. She disappeared, causing her mother to call the police and report the incident that same night. The day after, they went in search of the cousin’s house. They found her body in a room lying in state.

A suspect surrendered himself to the law enforcement agents later today and will have his court appearance at the Magistrates Court in Bronkhorstspruit on Wednesday. Gauteng Department of Education’s spokesperson, Steve Mabona, added that the student was tended under the charge of being sexually assaulted before strangulation.

MEC Chiloane has conveyed his immense sorrow over the loss and stated that justice in this tragic case is critical.
