Gauteng taxi bosses want on-site amenities

Gauteng taxi bosses want improved facilities at taxi ranks, including libraries and gyms, to enhance the industry’s image. The South African National Taxi Council and National Taxi Alliance met with city officials to formalize the sector and accelerate progress as reported by Eyewitness news.

Talks with an unknown company are underway to invest in building smarter taxi ranks that provide banks, food stalls, and daycare facilities for commuters.

While a timeline has yet to be established, work has started in some cities, and a funding model is also in development.
