Gauteng Police Progress Against Counterfeit Goods

Gauteng police, in collaboration with various law enforcement units and agencies, conducted a search and seizure operation in Marabastad, Pretoria, targeting the sale of counterfeit and contraband goods.

Marabastad has seen an influx of businesses allegedly selling counterfeit items, impacting the economy negatively as reported by SA News.

During the operation, goods with notable local and international brands were seized, estimated at a street value of approximately R13.7 million.

Additionally, three individuals were arrested for Immigration Act violations.

Authorities emphasise their commitment to combatting the counterfeit goods market and urge the community not to support it, encouraging the reporting of criminal activities to the local police or via the Crime Stop hotline. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the MySAPS App.
