The former Eskom CEO got a job in the US. Per a City Press report, Andre De Ruyter will become a visiting senior fellow at Yale University by the end of August. His role will involve teaching courses on renewable energy and the green economy.

According to IOL, De Ruyter left his post as CEO of Eskom in February, shortly after making serious allegations about undisclosed senior politicians’ involvement in Eskom corruption. He claimed that corruption was being facilitated by high-ranking politicians from the ruling party, interfering in the struggling power utility.

He also revealed that certain members of the governing party and government were aware of the corruption within Eskom, suggesting that the utility was a source of political gain.

The Eskom board stated in June that they had not received the intelligence report commissioned by De Ruyter regarding criminal activities at the power stations. De Ruyter’s departure from South Africa in February was reportedly due to concerns about his and his family’s safety.
