Five armed robbers managed to flee a business robbery scene at a department store in Eersterust on Thursday morning. They left security officials at the store handcuffed. Luckily, no injuries were reported despite shots being fired during the incident.

The armed suspects successfully escaped on foot and later fled in three vehicles from the Eersterust Plaza. The SAPS Tshwane spokesperson, Johan van Dyk, stated that the robbery occurred around 09:00 at the Pep Store.

Van Dyk provided details of the incident, explaining, “The manager of the Pep Store, two security guards, and six staff members were inside the shop performing their duties when five unknown males entered the shop.” He added that the security guards were handcuffed using their handcuffs.

According to the police report, the manager was then taken to the safe, which contained new cellphones, and the suspects made away with them and memory cards. The exact value of the stolen items was yet to be confirmed. Three perpetrators were reported to be carrying handguns.

After the robbery, the suspects fled the scene on foot. They later climbed into three vehicles parked outside the Hans Coverdale West Street shopping complex. Although one of the perpetrators fired shots outside the store, Van Dyk confirmed that there were no injuries during the incident.
