Blaze Consumes Mr Price Store in Centurion Shopping Centre
Another Gauteng location went up in flames with a fire at Mr Price in Centurion at Mall@55 shopping centre. Tshwane emergency services reported no injuries resulting from the fire.
IOL reports that residents living near the shopping centre observed smoke billowing from the building on Saturday afternoon. Deputy Chief Fire and Rescue Operations head at the City of Tshwane, Refiloe Phantshang, confirmed that while fighters had won the battle against the flames, they continued to monitor the scene.

According to Phantshang, reports indicated a Mr Price warehouse was ablaze around 5.30 pm on Saturday. There were no reports of casualties, and Phantshang maintained constant communication with emergency services throughout the incident.
Regarding the fire’s origin, Phantshang mentioned that the exact cause remained unknown. However, he speculated that a cooking fire or the burning of stolen cables could trigger it.
This fire incident occurred in the wake of another blaze that struck parts of an informal settlement in Bushbuckridge, Centurion, on Friday morning. Ward 57 councillor David Farquharson confirmed this incident, adding that these two fires followed closely on the heels of another tragic fire at Itireleng, which claimed the lives of five children inside a shack.
