Fatal Taxi Violence Erupts in Johannesburg Claiming Four Lives

Yesterday, the police initiated investigations into cases of attempted murder and murder following two separate incidents of taxi violence.

The first incident occurred around 11:00 in Lehae, near Lenasia in Johannesburg. According to initial findings, three men sustained gunshot injuries and were promptly transported to the nearest hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Reports indicate that two of the victims were seated inside a taxi association patrol vehicle, while the third victim was standing outside when three vehicles abruptly approached them. The occupants of the vehicles fired shots at the men, causing injuries.

Shortly after the initial incident, another incident unfolded on the R554 road, prompting the arrival of the Mondeor SAPS Vispol. Six men were travelling along this route in a taxi association patrol vehicle from Lehae. Allegedly, they were followed by a silver Volkswagen Polo.

The occupants of the Polo opened fire on the patrol vehicle, resulting in four men losing their lives due to fatal gunshot wounds. The remaining two men sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Currently, no arrests have been made, but investigations are actively underway.

The police are diligently working to identify the culprits involved in these acts of violence and bring them to justice. Further updates will be provided as the investigations progress.
