Fake news: Giant great white shark found on Durban beach

Images of a massive great white shark supposedly washing up on a Durban beach near uShaka Sea World went viral on social media this week. However, the SA Association for Marine Biological Research (SAAMBR) confirmed on Tuesday that the photos and Facebook posts are a hoax as reported by Zululand Observer.

SAAMBR’s communications officer, Ann Kunz, urged social media users to fact-check posts before sharing to avoid spreading confusion and viral hoaxes.
