Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa Blames Infrastructure Problems for Load Shedding

South African citizens are experiencing frustration due to ongoing high-level power outages this week, following unprecedented blackouts caused by power station breakdowns last weekend. Eskom declared stage 6 load shedding as a result.

According to allAfrica, Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa leads an eight-day nationwide assessment tour of power stations. Among them was Kusile Power Station, which he visited on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Ramokgopa reported that technical issues heavily affected Eskom’s power stations, which were related to technical designs rather than corruption.
