Ekurhuleni ex-health workers demand job reinstatement

Former Ekurhuleni health workers demand permanent jobs with the Gauteng health department after their jobs were terminated in June 2022. They protested outside the Gauteng health department’s office in Johannesburg, claiming they were excluded from the absorption process that occurred in 2020 as reported by GroundUp.

Instead, they went door-to-door for testing, counselling, and creating awareness of HIV/AIDS, TB, and sexually transmitted infections.

On April 3, the workers are scheduled to attend an arbitration hearing at the Benoni Bargaining Council.
