Ekurhuleni Captain Achieves a Notable Top 20 Ranking

Caitlyn Macnab, the women’s captain of Ekurhuleni, achieved a remarkable milestone as she climbed to the 18th position in the official world amateur golf rankings by the end of September. Her ascent followed a victory with the Ole Miss Women’s Golf Team, marking her second collegiate win. Macnab’s golf journey began with a successful career on the GolfRSA amateur circuit, including her victory in the 2021 Sunshine Ladies Tour’s Jabra Ladies Classic. In 2021, she embarked on a golf scholarship at Texas Christian University, making an impressive impact as the number one player for the Frogs. Her collegiate triumph at the Schooner Fall Classic, with a total score of 10 under par 20, further solidified her standing.

Macnab, a 21-year-old golfer from Ekurhuleni, transferred to the University of Mississippi at the start of the 2023/24 season. In her debut at the Cougar Classic, she secured a top-five finish and subsequently won the Mason Rudolph Championship. Her consistent performance led to a two-shot victory with a score of 12 under par 204. As the only player in the field to post three sub-70 rounds, Macnab’s achievement significantly contributed to Ole Miss’s fifth-place finish in the competition.

Recognising her success in Tennessee, Caitlyn Macnab received the SEC women’s golfer of the week accolade, marking a notable milestone in her career. Her impressive journey also included being named to the All-Big 12, First-Team Academic All-Big 12, and Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team during her time at TCU. She received back-to-back All-American Honorable Mentions from the Women’s Golf Coaches Association in 2022 and 2023.

Macnab’s golf prowess extended to her participation in the prestigious invitation-only Augusta National Women’s Amateur, where she represented South Africa twice. In 2022 and 2023, she finished 11th and ninth, respectively.

The accomplished golfer will continue representing South Africa in the upcoming Espirito Santo Trophy in Abu Dhabi from October 25 to 28 alongside fellow GolfRSA National Squad members Kajal Mistry and Megan Streicher. This event marks her third appearance in the World Team Amateur Championships, having made her debut in Ireland in 2018 and competing again in France last year. Macnab’s continued success on the golf course illustrates her dedication and commitment to the sport.
