Metro Police Arrest Man with Over R40,000 Worth of Drugs
Metro Police officers have carried out a successful sting operation in Chatsworth. They apprehended a 24-year-old male suspect. He was carrying drugs worth over R40 000. Metro Police spokesperson Col Boysie Zungu officially confirmed the arrest, demonstrating the force’s dedication to these operations.
With an alarming rise in drug dens in the Chatsworth area, Metro Police has been closely monitoring the region to curtail this illicit trade effectively. Col Zungu highlighted that the suspect was identified and captured through the strategic efforts of the Metro Police tactical support team, which had been conducting thorough surveillance.

During the arrest and subsequent search, officers discovered many illicit substances in the suspect’s possession. The suspect was carrying 80 bags of suspected cocaine, along with an additional 24 bags of marijuana (dagga) and a considerable sum of R4,180 in cash. The estimated street value of the confiscated narcotics exceeds R40,000. This accomplishment marks one of several recent drug-related arrests carried out by Metro Police throughout the city.
Col. Zungu reiterated the force’s commitment: “We have been extremely vigilant and precise in our drug sting operations and investigations. Our teams are diligently working to maintain a drug-free municipality, recognizing that drugs play a significant role in contributing to the overall crime rate in our community.”
Metro Police has achieved several noteworthy successes in their ongoing operations, including arresting a 52-year-old male in Bayview who possessed heroin, crack cocaine, and mandrax, with a combined street value of R4,270. Another operation led to the arrest of a 50-year-old Chatsworth resident, discovered in possession of 16 pieces of suspected rock cocaine, valued at R1,600, along with R20,120 in cash.
