Diepsloot community has lost confidence in the police

The Diepsloot community has lost confidence in the police. As per GroundUP, the residents grapple with rampant crime and numerous social challenges, including high unemployment and overcrowding.

The recent death of John Makola, the former chairman of the Diepsloot community policing forum, sparked unrest in the township while attempting to prevent a robbery. Community leaders, demanding urgent government intervention to address the escalating violence, called for a meeting with government officials at the Union Buildings.

Despite the minister’s efforts, Kelsey Tlhosane highlighted that the community’s faith in the police had been deeply shaken.
