In the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, defence lawyer Advocate Thulani Mngomezulu reported two “suspicious people” visiting his home, fearing for his safety. As per SowetanLIVE, Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng addressed the court on this matter, emphasising Mngomezulu’s need for police protection as an officer of the court. Mngomezulu also cited a radio interview where music producer Sello “Chicco” Twala questioned his competence, though the judge refrained from commenting. Twala, a potential witness, was present when Meyiwa was fatally shot in 2014. Mngomezulu represents Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, who allegedly confessed to Meyiwa’s murder.

During the trial, Mngomezulu challenged the investigation’s integrity, claiming the evidence was fabricated, and the actual shooter was not among the accused. He proposed an alternate theory, suggesting Meyiwa was killed accidentally during a dispute involving Longwe Twala’s gun.
