Meyiwa Trial: Defence Alleges State Dishonesty in Court Proceedings
The defence in the Meyiwa trial accuses the State of dishonesty regarding document provision. According to Jacaranda FM, the High Court in Pretoria adjourned the trial on Tuesday to allow the defence time to review the documents provided by the State.
Defence counsel Advocate Zandile Mshololo likened the State’s failure to provide the requested documents to an ambush. She expressed frustration, stating, “This is a trial by ambush, my Lord,” to Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng.
Mshololo highlighted discrepancies in the State’s submission, particularly concerning missing pages in affidavits marked by Mr Baloyi. Additionally, she accused the State of dishonesty regarding its claim of needing more time to compile necessary records.
The trial will reconvene on May 13th.
