Sthamzen Wins Best DJ Category at Music, Arts and Media Awards

Thamsanqa Mehlomakulu, also known as Sthamzen, recently celebrated a significant achievement in his music career. With 12 years of experience in music production and 10 years of performing under his belt, the Danville-based DJ clinched the title of Best DJ at the Music, Arts and Media Awards held on September 21.

Award Recognition and Personal Journey

This victory marks Sthamzen’s second solo accolade and third award overall. His previous recognitions include the Best Male Artist of the Year at the Image Magazine Personality Awards in 2023 and the Best Dance Single at the Music on the Hill Awards earlier this year.

Despite celebrating his 29th birthday on September 30, Sthamzen continues to attribute his success to unwavering support from his fans and family. Reflecting on his journey, he acknowledges the role of persistence, faith, and a dedicated fan base in his accomplishments.

From Sebokeng to Pretoria

Originally hailing from Sebokeng, located on the Vaal, Sthamzen made the move to Pretoria at the age of 10 in 2005. His passion for music was nurtured and developed over the years, evolving into a full-fledged career that has garnered him widespread recognition.

Upcoming EP and Gratitude

Looking ahead, Mehlomakulu is gearing up for the release of an EP by the end of the year. The project is set to showcase his signature blend of Afro-house and Afro-tech, honoring his decade-long commitment to music.
