Dalpark Residents Play a Road Repair Waiting Game as Frustration Mounts
Dalpark residents are playing a road repair waiting game as they grow increasingly fed-up with the City of Ekurhuleni’s lack of action in repairing the road on Ysterhout Street following a water leak. According to Liesl Pretorius, a resident in the area, the water department addressed the water leak on May 28, successfully fixing the damaged pipe by opening up the tar surface with a TLB.
However, despite multiple complaints on the Ekurhuleni App, the roads department has not addressed the road where the TLB opened it up. The road has deteriorated for the past six weeks, marked only by red banner tape. The urgency to repair the road has reached a critical point as residents struggle to access their driveways and navigate the area due to the emergence of a developing pothole.
Pretorius expressed her frustration, noting that the municipality provided two reference numbers for the reported issue. Still, both have since been closed without any resolution. “The road has still not been fixed. No one has come to help,” she lamented.
Residents eagerly await comment from the municipality, hoping for an explanation or a plan of action to address the ongoing road repair delay. The lack of response from the municipality has left residents uncertain and dissatisfied as they continue to face the consequences of deteriorating road conditions.
Concerned community members are urging the municipality to prioritize road repair and provide a timely resolution to alleviate Dalpark residents’ difficulties.
