Isaac Mangena, the utility’s spokesperson, confirmed that this campaign would be targeting defaulting accounts in the Industria, Parkhurst, and Hursthill areas. The selected areas owe a collective amount of R13 million to City Power.

Moreover, Mangena stated that special efforts would be made to address the substantial debt of R32 million held by Helen Joseph and Rahima Moosa, Mother and Child Hospital. Disconnection notices will be personally delivered to these hospitals to prompt payment or a resolution.

This weekly disconnection initiative across Johannesburg signifies City Power’s commitment to addressing non-payment issues and recouping vital revenue necessary to continue providing essential services to the city’s residents and businesses. It also serves as a robust message to defaulting customers, emphasising the utility’s stance against non-payment.
