City Power’s Meter Audits in Randburg: Deadline Looms for Non-Vending Customers to Avoid Penalties

Published

on

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena has confirmed that technicians will continue auditing and replacing meters to assist non-vending customers in the Randburg Service Delivery Centre (SDC) areas. The utility has extended a waiver on penalty fees until November 30, encouraging residents to cooperate and avoid penalties ranging from R14,000 to R30,000 for non-compliant meters.

Mangena emphasized that this waiver applies to all non-vending customers, including those in both affluent and non-affluent areas, and urged residents to visit their SDCs or provide their details through telephone lines before the penalty charges are reinstated on December 1.

The technicians will be easily identifiable by their bright yellow bibs and valid ID cards, and they will be working to replace faulty, bridged, or missing meters. City Power appeals to residents to grant access to officials during this process to avoid future penalties.

Meter Audit Schedule for Randburg Area:

Area Audit Dates
Bryanston November 28 – 30
Ferndale December 02 – 03
Bordeaux December 04
Bloubosrand December 05 – 06
Kensington December 07
Maroeladal December 09 – 10
Robindale December 11 – 12
Olievenpoort December 13

Mangena also warned residents about the increasing trend of criminals using counterfeit credentials to gain entry to properties for robbery. He advised customers to verify the identity of any technician by calling the number on their ID card before paying for meter replacements or resets.
