City of Johannesburg Ensures Safety for SA vs. Argentina Rugby Match
The City of Johannesburg is taking measures to ensure the safety of sports fans during the highly anticipated Rugby Championship match between the Springboks and Argentina. This thrilling showdown will occur at Emirates Airline Park/Ellis Park stadium in Doornfontein, Johannesburg, on Saturday, 29 July 2023 as reported by Joburg Newsroom.
Xolani Fihla, the spokesperson for the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), has confirmed that JMPD officers will be present to ensure the safety of all road users and maintain smooth traffic flow around the stadium precinct before, during, and after the match.

Due to the event, some roads around the stadium will be affected. Road closures will be implemented from Friday, 28 July, midnight before the match until 10 pm on Saturday. The affected roads include Saratoga Avenue, Joe Slovo Drive, Sivewright Avenue, Currey Street, Beit Street, Charlton Terrace, Bertrams Road, Van Beek Street, Dora Street, Erin Street, Miller Street, and Voorhout Street.
Motorists planning to attend the match are advised to familiariSe themselves with the traffic management arrangements for the day.
For spectators’ convenience, parking will be available at various locations, including Johannesburg Stadium, Ellis Park Arena, Ellis Park Parkade, Johannesburg College, Rea Vaya Bus Parking, and Voorhout Road, according to Fihla.
The City of Johannesburg aims to create a safe and enjoyable experience for sports enthusiasts during this significant rugby event through these preparations.
