Police Launch Search for Missing Child After Gas Explosion in Joburg CBD
A child has gone missing after the explosion in Johannesburg, prompting the police to investigate the matter. According to Eyewitness News, Gauteng police commissioner Elias Mawela revealed this during a media briefing on Thursday. He stated that information from residents suggested the possibility of debris from the blast hitting the child.

Despite one reported fatality and 48 injuries from the explosion that caused significant damage to Bree Street and Rissik Street, the focus remains on finding the missing child. Mawela recommended the child’s parents open a case with the police. The authorities have deployed search and rescue dogs to search the affected areas.
While some residents believe the child may have died, the investigation is ongoing to determine the child’s fate.
