CBD artist paints portrait of inspiration
In Pretoria CBD, a painter recently created a portrait of a fellow artist who had been a source of inspiration during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic. The portrait symbolized a gesture of brotherly love and support for the artist.
Shadrack Ntiwane, known as Shaddytheartist, painted a portrait of Bongani Goodman Mavimbela, popularly recognized as “Da Style Guru” in entertainment and fashion circles. Both artists originally hail from Mpumalanga but currently reside in Pretoria CBD.
Shaddytheartist expressed that he was motivated to paint the portrait of Bongani Da Style Guru due to the inspiring journey of his life. He highlighted that Da Style Guru faced setbacks during the pandemic, resulting in the loss of his clothing business and clientele.
However, a positive turn of events occurred in 2022 when Da Style Guru secured a position at the health department, leading to a resurgence in his career. Today, he is recognized as a versatile business entrepreneur involved in MCing, fashion styling, interior design, and events management.
Despite encountering challenges, such as the temporary closure of his clothing store due to the pandemic, Da Style Guru successfully rebranded himself, gaining acclaim for his vibrant personality and unique fashion sense.
Da Style Guru expressed his appreciation for Shaddytheartist’s gesture of painting his portrait, emphasizing the importance of mutual support among local artists. He shared a message of resilience and perseverance for upcoming artists and young entrepreneurs, encouraging them not to give up in the face of adversity.
Shaddytheartist’s own journey from humble beginnings cutting hair at a tavern to establishing his barbershop and art gallery showcased his determination and talent. The collaboration between the two artists exemplifies their shared commitment to uplifting and supporting each other in their respective endeavors.
