Cable theft in Clubview caused power outages in the area and surrounding areas on Wednesday morning. Cables were stolen and damaged from an underground power line near Ashwood Drive and Zwartkop Country Club. Ward 66 councillor Ina Strijdom confirmed the ongoing outage, stating that the theft occurred around 01:00. Clubview and Zwartkop Golf Estate were the most affected areas.

Strijdom assured that relevant officials and repair teams were addressing the situation. However, there was no estimate on when power would be fully restored. Meanwhile, residents in nearby neighbourhoods like Eldoraigne and Wierdapark also faced power outages unrelated to the cable theft. Strijdom explained that a tripped switch at a substation likely caused these outages.

Power was restored to these areas by Wednesday morning. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to prevent further cable theft incidents.
