Boksburg north SAPS crash

There has been limited progress in investigating the Boksburg north SAPS crash, even after nearly five months.

According to Robbie Raburabu, the spokesperson for the Independent Police Investigative Directorate, the case has not yet been submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a decision. This delay is primarily due to the outstanding post-mortem, vehicle technical reports, and a few statements.

IPID is investigating the incident as a case of culpable homicide. The accident on April 22 involved a Toyota Yaris that had broken down and was being pushed along the road. Subsequently, the Yaris reportedly struck a Ford Ranger after the initial collision.

Tragically, Kamokgelo Gama (22), who was assisting in pushing the Yaris, succumbed to head and chest injuries sustained in the accident. His grieving family has voiced concerns over the lack of updates from the investigating officer regarding the ongoing investigation.

Additionally, IPID has acknowledged allegations surrounding the discovery of a bottle of alcohol in the SAPS vehicle. This aspect of the incident is also under investigation.
