Rockville residents made the grim discovery of the body of an unidentified man in Thokoza Park on Monday morning. The site of the discovery is just opposite the Rea Vaya.

One resident, Nontuthuzelo Ngcobo, expressed her profound disturbance over the incident, particularly as a mother, and voiced concerns about the community’s safety. She remarked, “I saw when the corpse was removed from the water, it disturbed me a lot, and I feel that we are not safe anymore. I believe if we reinstate our previous Community Policing Forum (CPF) teams, these things will end. I think this man was killed before being dragged into this dam.”

The South African Police Service was promptly alerted and dispatched to retrieve the male body from the water. An inquest docket has been opened at the Moroka police station.

As authorities began their inquiries, they urged family members of the deceased to come forward to identify the body. Those with information or potential leads on the dead’s identity are encouraged to contact the police at 08600 10111.
