SHOCKING UPDATE: Ransom demanded for kidnapped Biokineticist as two suspects are arrested and search for Riana continues
Update: On Thursday, March 16th, citizens became concerned after the kidnapping of biokineticist Riana Pretorius in Gqeberha. As reported by The South African, she remains missing despite the arrest of two people and a ransom demand of R2 million. The Hawks are currently searching for the third suspect who may be able to provide leads to Pretorius’s whereabouts.
The incident occurred outside a medical practice in Newton Park, where armed men forced Pretorius into a white Toyota Corolla. While the Hawks have located the vehicle and arrested one suspect, there is still no sign of Pretorius. Friends and family have requested that the public continue to pray for her safe return.
It’s worth noting that kidnappings in South Africa have increased significantly, with over 4,000 cases reported between July and September 2022. This latest statistic marks a significant increase compared to last year when the rate doubled. Total contact crimes also increased by 18.5% during the same period under review.
